Time to open our inner eyes!

Welcome!

Today: Time to open our inner eyes!

Passage: Luke 15

18 I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. (Eph 1, NIV)-emphasis added

Thank God for another week. God’s provision and protection is what keeps us

Spiritual blindness is a “disease” that has affected many leaders as well as believers. We consider physical blindness as a big problem; but for God, spiritual blindness is a much bigger problem

Fanny Crosby, who penned the songs  “Blessed Assurance”, “To God Be the Glory” and “Rescue the Perishing”, was one who became physically blind when she was just six weeks old, due to wrong treatment for her eye infection. By the time she died in 1915, she was the most prolific hymn writer in American history. Her inner eyes were wide open, though her outer eyes were not!

With our outer eyes perfectly fine, what are we doing for God?

We better admit our spiritual blindness so that God can open our inner eyes

Jesus mentioned several times about the spiritual blindness of the disciples

They could not understand some of the spiritual facts that Jesus shared

King David’s parents did not mention anything about David, when prophet Samuel came to anoint the
next King of Israel!

They looked outwardly and never thought David could ever become a king!

This is how many people anointed by God for greater purposes are “missed” by the spiritual leaders
in this world.

Finally, the Church misses the blessings as some people get “blessed”

Paul’s prayer is that when the spiritual eyes are opened, the Ephesian belivers will be able to see the
greatness of spiritual things over the physical/material things

If we had this vision about the things of God, we would have gone too far, than where we are today

May God open our spiritual eyes, as we decide to close our carnal eyes

Let us fix our eyes on that which is heavenly (Col 3:1)

Prayer: Lord Jesus, “Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in your instructions” (Ps 119:18, NLT). I
admit my spiritual blindness. Lord, I really want to see the blessed mysteries hidden within your word. Amen

“We cannot have our carnal and spiritual eyes open at the same time; it is one or the other”
