Let God have a party!

Welcome!

Today: Let God have a party!

Passage: Luke 15

28 “The older brother became angry and refused to go in. So his father went out and pleaded with him. 29 But he answered his father, ‘Look! All these years I’ve been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends. (Lk 15, NIV)

We know the story above, most popular as the story of “the prodigal son”

When he came home, the father had a party. The older son didn’t appreciate it

We have heard many people preaching, as if this son at home was bad

I don’t think he was. He was only speaking facts. Read the verse carefully

The younger one took away all his property. He had no share left in the house.

Once the father dies, the elder one will own the whole estate/property

Now, the younger son has come, to stay! And the father has a party?

The expression of this older son is very natural. You and I would have done the same thing as him. But what we see in the father is grace, which is unmerited favor. The younger son does not deserve to be welcomed back, but this father was so gracious and good. See how the father is pleading with the older one

However, the truth is that the house belongs to the father, as long as he is alive

In today’s church, we see certain trends. In some cases, there are some individuals/family/group controlling the whole thing. They don’t like to be “disturbed” by new people coming or having a Holy
Spirit move
or a celebration of praise. All they want is for things to go in the pattern they like/used to

Jesus is knocking from the outside; “may I come in please?”

But there is this in(visible) sign: “don’t disturb. We are doing fine here”

So God walks away; so does people

It was shocking to hear a Westchester man of 50 who apparently killed his wife and two kids and then killed himself. They were going through a divorce

Dear friend, people around us need a helping hand, a praying friend, more than wall street fixing or anything like that.

Are we available to pray/speak to someone about a God who loves them?

Have a wonderful day. Don’t forget top pray/speak to someone

BG

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for your grace and love you showered upon me. I don’t desrve it, but you still loved me. You protected and provided, even when I didn’t pray enough or give you glory. You are so very good, Lord Jesus. Amen
