Today: Making the most-of every opportunity
Passage: Eph 5, Prov 6
15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. (Eph 5:15-17, NIV 84)-emphasis added
People who trade stocks know very well, what it means “to make use of every opportunity”. They keep watching stocks so closely, that even in sleep they will be “connected” to the stock market
There may not be anything wrong in having stocks/shares, but it all depends on whether you own them or they own you!
When you own them, you are on top of it; that is not the most important thing in your life. But when they or anything else owns you, that is what dominates your heart and your life/time. You will be so much “affected” by the ups and downs in that area!
A true child of God will have their eyes open to see if there is any area/opportunity he/she gets, to bring glory to God
I remember at least two instances in my life, where I/we just spend some time with a family/individual sharing things of God and praying
While in Kochi, Kerala about 15 years or so back, one elderly brother once asked me and my wife to visit his home. He was very much in the church by himself for most of the meetings and was “concerned” about his family. We went, met his family alone and had a very nice, warm welcome!
It was a joy to later see his only son, V.J Traven come into the ministry of music and also being an effective Pastor in that city. Many of you visited his web site
Few years before that, I happened to meet another brother, Thomaskutty, while I was still in college. I met this brother after he was only weeks after his re-birth, at a students’ camp at “Charalkunnu”, in Kerala
I spent quite some quality time with that brother, who happened to be from a place called Vakathanam, my mother’s place. His story was very touching!
He is the co-founder of the ministry “Heavenly Feast” at Kottayam
We may not agree with all the concepts of some ministries. Friendship is one thing, fellowship is another. God looks at things differently from us. He looks with His eyes! We look with ours
So, don’t waste any opportunity; God bless you, as you decide to do so
We are precious to God!

Prayer: Your response to the message
Proverbs for today: Proverbs 6
[9 How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep?
10 A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest—
11 and poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man.[a] – Prov 6, NIV 84]
