Today: What is not in that name?
Passage: Exodus 3, Phil 2
14 God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.[b] This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’” (Exodus 3:14, NIV 84)
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Phil 2:9-11, NIV 84)
When God called Moses and assigned to him the job of going to Egypt and asking Pharaoh to release His people, Moses asked God, His name
In those days, everything was about name. The name speaks everything
So God told Moses His name: “I AM”
It may look little strange for us, but that tells us everything about God
God is the “I AM”. He cannot be defined in a better way
Knowing that Israelites may not understand “I AM”, God put in in a simpler way
God said: “I am the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob”
But that is not what really qualifies God; that is only for them to understand
If you know the son of a renowned person, you may say, “My friend’s dad”, about that person, but that is not what really qualifies that person
In the same way, we can say “God of Abraham” or “God of Jacob”, but God is far above that. He is the great “I AM”
If you go to meet a person in high position, and you introduce yourself as “I am Mr. John” or so, he will be like “John who?”
But when you mention the name of a person who knows that person intimately, and also your friend, he will be like “Come on in”
When you approach almighty God, there is one name that will give you acceptance there: the name of JESUS
In that name, you have everything. That is the most powerful name ever
There is healing, deliverance and answer to all your problems, in that name!
Why should you then live like an orphan, if Jesus calls you His friend?
If we bow down before JESUS, we won’t have to bow down before anybody else!
When the devil comes to bother you, just say “JESUS”
You will not even see the way he went!
6 Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” 7 Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong. (Acts 3: 6-7, NIV 84)
There are no tricks in that name. All you have is POWER!
God bless you, as you get to know JESUS more personally
Keep Him as your best friend always. It is worth it, because you never know!
