Today: God’s way to victory

Passage: 2 Cor 2:14, Col 2:14

14 But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him.(2 Cor 2:14, NIV 84)

The “triumphal procession” mentioned here is the kind of procession that the (Roman) Generals would lead, after winning a war

They would be displaying some of the top plunders from the war as they march in procession, making a “public spectacle” of the enemy

There is no victory without a war; no crown without a cross

We all like “victory”, “triumph” etc., but not “war” or “fight”

We are at war/fight, but not with any individuals or groups/religions

12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. (Eph 6:12-13, NIV 84)-emphasis added

When Israelites were chased by Pharaoh and his people, and as the Israelites marched forward ‘into’ the red sea, Pharaoh might have thought that the Israelites were jumping into the water, in defeat!

Little did he (Pharaoh) know that God had opened a highway for His people!

Now, as Pharaoh wanted to take the same high way, God brought destruction; had they stayed on the shore, they would have saved themselves!

The enemy is after the true Church of Jesus Christ; but Jesus said, he won’t overcome the church (Mat 16:16)

He will tell us what to do, if the enemy comes after us. Sometimes, it will appear as if we are failing, but that’s O.K

That is what the devil thought, when Jesus was on the cross

But you know what actually happened? It was something similar to what happened at the red sea!

14 having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross. 15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross (Col 2:14-15, NIV 84)-emphasis added

So, don’t be disappointed, if you have to “take the cross”

You may be “looked down” for a short while, but the crown is waiting

That is the Jesus way

Have a blessed day!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for the victory that is mine, through you. Thank you for fighting the devil down, for me. Help me to live a victorious Christian life, every day of my way. Amen.
