Today: (Dis) appointment with God!

Passage: Exodus 3, 4

13 Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?”  14 God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.[b] This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’” (Exodus 3:13-14, NIV 84)

When God wanted to speak to His people and bring them out of captivity, He wanted a man to lead them out

It all happened when the cry of Israelites reached God

But when God met with that man on mount Horeb in the burning bush, Moses was not ready for that assignment. It was like Moses had a (dis)appointment with God! He had a “comfortable” job, all well settled

God rejected the appeal/plea from Moses. His excuses were not accepted. He was handed out his appointment order and that was it!

God gave Moses an “instant” training. He was given the power to do signs and wonders. He was also given the word to speak (Ex 3 & 4, Ref: Mark 16: 15-18)

God’s ways are strange. It was all “on-the –job-training” for Moses- straight from shepherding to leading a nation of two million or so (600,000 men alone).

God picks up a man from Prison and puts him straight in the Palace! (Joseph)

Today, we see two types of (strange) groups of people in the ministry: One, those who are called by God, but sitting idle; the other- those who are doing the ministry they were not called for!

What many people do, is to first start/register “John Doe ministries”, just copying somebody else. That is where we make the greatest mistake

The first step is to sit at the feet of the Lord and receive from Him. Then follow His directions. If He tells you start one, go ahead!

If God has called you, He will lift you up; nobody can put you down

Could anybody put down Moses, Joshua, Peter or Paul?

6 No one from the east or the west or from the desert can exalt a man.
7 But it is God who judges: He brings one down, he exalts another. (Ps 75:6-7, NIV 84

Let us prove to the Lord that we really love Him, instead of “using” God as a money making tool

May God bless you

Prayer: Lord, thank you for your call upon my life. Help me recognize and respond to your call. Help me to spend more time with you. Amen
