Today: Dialogue with God!

Passage: Exodus 33

11 The LORD would speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks with his friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but his young aide Joshua son of Nun did not leave the tent.  12 Moses said to the LORD, “You have been telling me, ‘Lead these people,’ but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. You have said, ‘I know you by name and you have found favor with me.’ 13 If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.”

14 The LORD replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”  (Ex 33: 11-14, NIV 84)-emphasis added

Moses was having a serious dialogue with God

However, it was Moses dominating the dialogue

God would listen to the long speech of Moses where he uses “You” several times, and then in the end, (God) would speak briefly

Moses probably expected God to speak in the same style as His!

But God, as well as His style was (and is) different

God will only speak what is needed

(Joshua was busy waiting in God’s presence, regardless of what was going on between Moses and God. He just wanted to have more of God and His glory!)

It looks like Moses was “warning” God, when he said:

“Remember that this nation is your people”

That reminds me of something……

Have you seen some fathers talking to their wives “your son/daughter”, especially when the child does “bad” in something?

When the child does everything well, it is “mine”; otherwise, it is “yours”!

Moses wanted to remind God that he was taking care of God’s people (in case God “forgot”!)

May be Moses felt that God just handed this “burden” over to Moses and went about His (other) business!

Anyway, did you ever have a dialogue with God like that?

Not me. I would definitely like to have one like that!

I usually ask the Lord what to write, and He “highlights” a topic in my heart

Then, as I start with that, He takes me to connected verses/areas

Now, I can say, “Lord, you gave it, and I just wrote it”

(…not to blame God, but to bless His name)

“My stuff”, it is not going to touch anyone; “His stuff” will!

Let us live, speak and do everything for God, impacting lives for God

Have a blessed weekend!

Prayer: Lord, lead me into a more personal, intimate relationship with you, like Moses. Let my life and actions bring glory to you, Lord. Thank you. Amen

Oh Lord my God….
