Today: “Today”, says God; “Tomorrow”, says devil
Passage: Exodus 8 (NIV 84)
9” All right,” Moses answered. “You choose the time when I am to pray for the frogs to stop bothering you, your officials, and your people, and for them to leave your houses and be found only in the river.” 10” Do it tomorrow!” the king replied.
29” Your Majesty,” Moses replied, ” I’ll pray for you as soon as I leave, and by tomorrow the flies will stop bothering you, your officials, and the citizens of your country. Only make sure that you’re telling the truth this time and that you really intend to let our people offer sacrifices to the LORD.”
When Pharaoh tried to delay the deliverance of God’s people, life became too hard for him; it was one plague after another, but he wouldn’t change
Even as the land and every house were full of frogs, he told Moses to pray to God “tomorrow”, (not “today”). His heart only got hardened
Think a little bit; don’t we also postpone our prayers for “tomorrow” and do many other things “today”?
That is when God decides to postpone our blessings also, for “tomorrow”
When the plague of the flies came, Pharaoh asked Moses to pray. Moses said, “by tomorrow” they will be gone!
A sense of urgency is required, in prayer. Otherwise, it may be “too late”!
You may postpone anything else, but prayer
Praying, is spending time with our Lord, in an intimate way
It is “kissing the son of God”. We cannot afford to forget to pray
10 Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth.
11 Serve the LORD with fear and rejoice with trembling.
12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry and you be destroyed in your way, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him. (Ps 2:10-12, NIV 84, emphasis added)
In the ministry of Paul, he suffered so many different kinds of oppositions
Once a group of 40 people took a “fast” against Paul (Acts 23: 12-13)
But then, God was above that. God saved Paul, and saved him for God’s plan
Your prayers of “today” will work for today, and even for tomorrow
Prayer is an “investment” you can never stop; you keep on investing the whole of your life. It is not like the “pension plan” where you can “stop” contributing, after a certain time. You never “retire” from Prayer
If we take the things of God for granted and choose to postpone them for “tomorrow”, God will also postpone our blessings for “tomorrow”
May God open our eyes to see what He has, for us

Prayer: Lord, open my eyes so that I can see what you have for me. Help me to pray “today” when the devil whispers “tomorrow” in my ears. Thank you for your provision, promises and protection. Amen
“Sweet hour of Prayer….”
