Passage: Isaiah 60:2 NIV

2 For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people;
But the LORD will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you.

As each day passes by, the world is getting darker, not brighter
Technology will tell us that the world is getting brighter and better
Political, Economical and Religious bosses will tell us that things are getting better
But the truth is, they are getting bitter, not better
Jesus told the truth; He is the truth; He is the only true love and life
Jesus is the only true hope; in Him we find hope that is real
You see the original light in Jesus; everything else is a reflection of something
Only Jesus can truly illuminate lives darkened by sin

5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. (1 John 1: 5, NIV)

Unless a person truly receives that illumination from God, he/she cannot become an effective witness for Christ
But once you get that illumination, you can no longer be hidden either
The Samaritan woman in John 4 became a witness for Christ, as soon as she got the illumination. Her life was all dark. She was “stuffed” with sin, until the word of Jesus, like a surgical knife, opened up her life and exposed the sin in her
So far, everyone was seeing the outside, not the inside of her
But the true light of Jesus swept the darkness completely out of her life
It is important that we be filled with this light and life, before we get ready to show this light to others
Again, it involves “risk” to be a witness for Christ, in this world
The devil does not like it. The world presented Jesus, a rough cross
He happily carried it; He did not reject it. Jesus knew, the cross was his way to the crown
That is why, Heaven is prepared only for those who are willing to take that cross while they live here
If you take the cross while you live here, you will get the crown while you leave here
It “rhymes” to say that, but “hurts” to do that
Taking the cross is no game
So, many people have comfortably “chosen”, not to take the cross, but to ignore it and to live a life without getting much engaged with Christ and His mission
happy life, having nothing much to do with the cross of Christ or the Christ of the
But Paul said that he would choose to preach Christ crucified, even though neither Jews nor Greeks would welcome it (1 Cor 1)
If you will choose to bear the torch of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and His cross, you will not only lead many people out of hell, but will do something worthwhile, with your life
