Today: Truly a new creation in Christ

Passage: Gen 1

3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.(Gen 1:3-5, NIV)

God said, and things were formed

God’s creation is better explained by the Latin word “Ex-nihilo”; God created from nothing

Certain groups do not believe that God created everything from nothing

The big bang theory they teach in schools, does not teach about creation from nothing; it assumes that something was already there, when the “big bang” happened

When God created the earth, he was totally involved; the universe came out of God’s intense desire to do so. Once it was created, God looked at it and found that it was really good -like a mother looking at her new-born child

God liked what He created, and He loves it

God sustains (holds) the cosmos by His word

As God’s children, we have a responsibility to the creation- the universe

We need to love the earth and everything in it, (not worship it) because God loves it; God made it for us

God first had you and me in His mind, before He created the earth

It is important that Christians have a concern for the environment

Most Christians are so “spiritual”, that they don’t even have time to enjoy God’s creation.

One day, God will take over the administration of the world

Jesus, while on earth, used to go into the garden and the mountain to pray; he was very much a friend of His creation.

Other than the fact that God loves and sustains what He created,

We also see that God clearly separated certain things from another, at creation

God separated the day from night; He separated the waters above and waters below the sky

When a person is born again, he/she becomes a totally new creation in Christ

17Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come! (2 Cor 5:17, The Amp. Bible)

This may be difficult to comprehend, because many of us, who claim to be “born again” has not underwent such a drastic change/conversion

One of the signs of a true conversion is immediate obedience to God, without question (Cornelius-Acts 10, the three thousand people that in Acts2, the Eunuch in Acts 8 are some examples)

People who are truly converted will have a burden for witnessing (John 4)

They will have a desire for spiritual growth and for the word of God and Prayer (1 Peter 2:2, Acts 6:4)

They will bear the fruit of the Spirit, for Christ (John 15: 4-5)

If we don’t have the above, we need to really search if we are born again or not

If we are not bearing fruit for Christ, we are not properly grafted to Christ

Satan is so much a deceiver that he turns the minds of people away from bearing fruit and into so many other useless things

If we do not have the kind of spiritual hunger and thirst, we are sick in the spirit

A good number of “Christians” are after materialistic things; they don’t have time to hear stuff like this

On a typical Sunday, we can see in many churches, people worried about “what they wear and what they drive” than putting on Christ and being driven by Christ

We need to set our priorities right

Can God look at us and say, “Good; I like him/her. He/she is bearing fruit”?

May God bless you and help you to bear fruit for Him

BG

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I want to know if I am truly born again or not, because I don’t see many of the signs of a truly converted person, in me. I still compromise with “darkness”. Help me to become a true child of yours. Amen
