Today: Speaking faith

Reading Passage: 2 Cor 4

13 And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,”[a]we also believe and therefore speak, 14 knowing that He who raised up the Lord Jesus will also raise us up with Jesus, and will present us with you. 2 Cor 4:13-14, NKJV-emphasis added

Writing to the Corinthians, Paul mentions about many of the pains he had to take, as a servant of Christ and the gospel

It is important to “Speak faith”, and to keep quiet, when we are full of doubt, fear or unbelief

Moses told Israelites to keep quiet when they were about to cross the red sea, while Moses himself was speaking faith

13 Moses spoke to the people: “Don’t be afraid. Stand firm and watch God do his work of salvation for you today. Take a good look at the Egyptians today for you’re never going to see them again. 14 God will fight the battle for you. And you? You keep your mouths shut!”(Ex 14:13-14,The Message-emphasis added)

When we believe God and speak what God wants us to speak, the rest is up to God

But many a time, we simply speak and nothing happens!

When Moses told the people that God was going to do a great work of miracle there, he did not know for sure what that miracle was going to be

It was after the word of faith came out of Moses’ mouth that God told him what to do

Moses had already seen the ten plagues in Egypt; he had seen the hand of God very clearly

He knew he was in the perfect will and plan of God

So, he was sure the same God will do great things for him again, and that he will see the miracle

He was actually thanking God for that crisis of the red sea, I believe

It is the various struggles we face in our Christian life that makes us strong and grow in faith

37 He did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James and John the brother of James. 38 When they came to the home of the synagogue leader, Jesus saw a commotion, with people crying and wailing loudly. 39 He went in and said to them, “Why all this commotion and wailing? The child is not dead but asleep.” 40 But they laughed at him. After he put them all out, he took the child’s father and mother and the disciples who were with him, and went in where the child was. (Mark 5:37-40, NIV-emphasis added)

Before doing the miracle of raising up the daughter of Jairus from death, Jesus cast all the weeping and wailing people out, and took with him only the parents of the child and his three disciples – Peter James and John

Whatever be the situation we are facing today, and even if it looks impossible, faith in God and our words/actions of faith can change everything

As we are about to enter 2011, let us decide to STOP speaking fear, unbelief and doubt out, and decide to speak faith

When we feel doubt, unbelief and fear, better not speak it out

God bless you

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I need you help to stop speaking doubt, fear and unbelief, and to start speaking faith about that impossible looking situation/person. Amen
