Today: Practicing the faith
Passage: Ps 34:8-10 NIV
8 Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.
9 Fear the LORD, you his holy people, for those who fear him lack nothing.
10 The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing. (emphasis added)
The verses above are part of a psalm written by David, when he had to act like an insane/mad person in front of King Abimelek
David meant it when he said: 10 “The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.” That was a statement of faith
The life of David was full of issues – a mix of good and bad times
These days, there are many leaders who promise their folks a life that is free from troubles and frustrations
If we look at the life of Paul in the New Testament, his life/diary was somewhat similar to that of David
Troubles, trials and persecutions were very much his companions, as was joyfulness and prayer
That is the beauty of Christian life; you may be going through the worst, yet you have the original smile on your face and joy filling your heart
No matter what the people or even the doctors say, a person who truly puts their faith in God will be strong
Once Paul was in a ship, which he knew was not going in the right direction; (Acts 27)
Paul told the people in charge, not to move the ship because God told him very clearly that there were going to be big troubles in the journey
He was a captive, a prisoner; so no one listened to Paul
But finally, even after the ship broke into pieces, God made it all for good
Whatever happened became a blessing for Paul, a great opening for ministry
There are people who escaped the 9/11 tragedy because they were somehow late for work that day
Sometimes, when things go in the unexpected direction, we may wonder why
“This is not how I expected things to happen; what in the world is going on?”
That is when and how, God teaches us the baby-steps of faith
Yesterday, we had a brother preaching about one of the biggest problems with we believers
We have songs, preaching, praising and all that……
But how much do we practice or exercise our faith in God?
How much do we keep going when circumstances and people might say,”you are trying to do that which is impossible; so, STOP”
When Peter saw Jesus walking on the water, he just got out of the boat and walked on the same water; that is how he exercised his faith
It has been too much time we have been drinking milk and being fed by the word by Pastors and preachers and by our own reading
But when are we going to walk on our own?
Yesterday we were listening to an elderly lady of 82 years, who has not had any medicine for the last 49 years
Once she had been down with typhoid, for over two weeks
I am not saying you and I should just do that; but that was how she practiced her faith
Do we trust God for that which is impossible?
God bless your week, as you start putting your faith into practice

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I thank you for your sacrifice on the cross and for your faith that you will be resurrected on the third day. I need that kind of faith with which I can overcome the various hurdles in my life. Thank you. Amen.
