Today: When the flesh became word

Passage: John 6: 41-42 NIV

41 At this the Jews there began to grumble about him because he said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.” 42 They said, “Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How can he now say, ‘I came down from heaven’?”

14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us (John 1:12, NIV)

In Jesus, the word became flesh

Again, that flesh became “word” for us; we have Him with us today, as the word

That “flesh” is not the “flesh” of our body or the “flesh” that is sinful

In the same chapter of John 6, Jesus mentions about the other “flesh”

63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit[e] and life.(John 6: 63, NIV)

There was a big problem among his listeners as Jesus spoke the message of John 6

His words are Spirit; they have to be understood and discerned spiritually

What Jesus spoke in John 6 is not clear to many, even today

It is a mystery; Jesus was talking about eating His flesh and drinking His blood

It is about fellowship with Him and living on Him

We don’t stay away from food and eat it; we need to literally go near food and touch it, before we ever eat it

Jesus was the word in a human form

If we can think about a man whose body is made up of the pages of the Bible, it will be some way we can explain it to a child

You can get the word as you look at Jesus

The way you get to know Jesus is through the word-reading and meditating on it

Then, as you fellowship and have the Lord’s Table, you are fellowshipping with God as well as with others who also fellowship with Him

If we don’t feed on Jesus individually, it does not make sense to go and be partakers of the Lord’s Table as we gather together

In many churches today, the Lord’s Table is taken very light

Almost anybody can just have it! I say, it is more important than that

The Jews could not accept Jesus when He said, He came from heaven

It was “spirit” talk; only those who have the Spirit of God coulld get it!

By the end of the talk, everybody left Jesus

That talk of Jesus was different from how He talked most of the time

Did Jesus know that all the big crowd was going to leave, after that talk?

He did; I think he wanted the disciples to understand that He was not pleased in quantity as much as He was pleased in quality

God is looking for some quality Christians, who will stick with Him, no matter what!

Who are these quality Christians?

These are those who follow Jesus for spiritual reasons-not for bread and power and positions

The Christians in Iraq and in many parts of the world are asked to leave their country; do you know that?

Here we are singing and praising in our Air-conditioned sanctuaries with chairs that give us comfort enough to sleep

How much are we in Him? It is costly; people may leave us, the closer we get to Him!

The word became flesh; today He is with us, as the word

Do we feed on Him? If so, we will live for ever

God bless

Prayer: Lord Jesus thank you for dying for me. I admit that I am after the things of this world, than I am after you; I rarely find time to feed on you-the word of God. I rarely find time to praise you and give you the glory you deserve. I need your help more than ever, to live a life pleasing to you. Thank you. Amen
