Today: When God takes over

Passage: Ps 19: 9, Exodus 40:33-35 NIV

9 The voice of the LORD twists the oaks[c] and strips the forests bare. And in his temple all cry, “Glory!”

33 Then Moses set up the courtyard around the tabernacle and altar and put up the curtain at the entrance to the courtyard. And so Moses finished the work.  34 Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. 35 Moses could not enter the tent of meeting because the cloud had settled on it, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. (emphasis added in both )

What goes on with the temple of the Lord is the Glory of the Lord

If the temple is set up properly, God will inhabit it and fill it with His glory

The very priests themselves may not be able to get into it because of the glory

But God is the most important person there; His voice is all you hear then

When Solomon was dedicating the temple, we see a similar thing happening (2 Chronicles 7)

As Solomon did everything as the Lord told him, the Glory of God filled the temple

The priests could not minister because the Glory of God was so thick and real!

Missing God’s glory? See what is missing on our end, in obedience

Our body is God’s temple. As we offer our bodies as living sacrifices to God – a sacrifice that is acceptable and pleasing to God, He will come and inhabit in us, filling us with His glory

That is what happened in Acts 2 and Isaiah 6

In Acts 2, God showed up right in the city, in Jerusalem

It doesn’t have to be the temple; it could be just a room

If we have enough room in our hearts to accommodate God, he will just step in

Obedience comes first; sacrifice next

We are more interested in putting sacrifice first, so that we can hide some our our un-surrendered areas to ourselves

God is willing to come down with His glory, whether it is for one person, 120 or even 120, 000

Once you get a touch of the Glory of the Lord, you can no longer be the same

God is more than the temple; God comes first and then the temple

We may have our own order set up for the service

But when God comes, He is in charge. He will change the order as He wants

When the Glory came down at the tabernacle (Moses)/ the temple (Solomon), their programs were messed up

But the Glory was there

When God gets the glory, man doesn’t; it is one or the other

When we are filled by the Holy Spirit, He takes control

Our body belongs to Him

We need to plan things; but as God walks in, we should get up and give the chair to Him. If He wants to change the order, it’s O.K. We don’t question God. Do we?

When He is in control, our glory may come down, but His glory will take over

That is what John the Baptist did: “He may come up; I will go down”

John was physically removed; but Jesus took over

Our self has to be crucified, for His glory to take over

God bless your week
