Today: When God becomes our last priority
Passage: Eph 5: 18-20 NIV
18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, 20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Eph 5:18-20, NIV) (emphasis added)
We live in a world where God and things of God are looked upon as something outdated or irrelevant
The verses above tells us that we should be about the Spirit of God and not about the wine of this world
When a person turns to God, he/she is turning from one commitment to another,
People are into politics, economics and technology
We are more committed to our gadgets like cell phone and to face book and stuff like that
God is nowhere in our priority; we call upon God when we really need him badly
The Bible tells us the danger of forgetting God, in the midst of all these things that surround us; it is the devil’s trick to keep us preoccupied with a lot of things and tell us that we have no time for God, but have a lot of time for the god of this world. Satan is only worried about his business and is marketing it very effectively and efficiently. Are we one of his faithful customers?
34 “Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap. 35 For it will come on all those who live on the face of the whole earth. (Luke 21:34-35, NIV)
37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. (Matthew 24: 37-39)
We better be careful that we give God the priority He deserves, by honoring Him with our time. He won’t force us or tempt us; it is on us
When was the last time we gave some thanks and praises to God from the depth of our heart?
We may not even be remembering that!
I am not talking about joining everybody in Church in worship
We need to remember God more often, in our personal time
12 young men and women, old men and children.
13 Let them praise the name of the LORD, for his name alone is exalted;
his splendor is above the earth and the heavens.
14 And he has raised up for his people a horn,[b] the praise of all his faithful servants,
of Israel, the people close to his heart. (Psalm 148: 12-14, NIV-emphasis added)
For all people close to His heart, God expects them to be talking to Him
But we are closer to our gadgets, TV and internet, more than God!
They won’t do us much good; God will
It is time to turn to God and pray and praise Him more often
His word will give us the directions to live by
God bless your week end

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I am sorry for being too much into many things other than you. You gave me the top priority and I owe my very life to you. Help me Lord, to make a sacrifice and give you the place you deserve in my life. Amen
