Today: Sing unto the Lord!
Passage: Psalm 89:1-2 NIV
1 I will sing of the LORD’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known
through all generations.
2 I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you have established your faithfulness in heaven itself.
Music has made such an impact on people, especially on the young generation
Go to any store that sells electronics like Bestbuy or so
You will see such a big portion of the store dedicated to selling stuff related to music
Lucifer was a master musician
While music can be used as an effective means to glorify the name of God, satan is using it very effectively to seduce so many young people
A good portion of the Bible is poetry; psalms, proverbs are all familiar to us
David was a musician; most psalms were sung by David
In the New Testament also we see much importance given to singing in worship
The moment we say “worship”, what comes into our heart is singing or music
When we sit for family prayer or any spiritual gatherings, we start it with a song, always
You sing, when you are happy; you sing when you praise and worship
When we sing and give glory to God, we will be blessed spiritually
David used to worship God and dance before God
His own wife didn’t like it; but David continued to give glory to God
If David has been singing some rock music and dancing, his wife would have danced with him and would have been “proud” of her husband!
But David decided to sing for the Lord and Lord alone
Music connects people who like the similar ones
In the bible we read about singing in the spirit
While we travel, do we like to listen to songs of praise and worship?
It can help us so much; many a time, I have been caught singing, myself
- singing the answer to the very problem I was encountering
It is a good thing to get into the music that glorifies God
Evangelism, music is a very important tool
But you can have a great crowd, for a musical evening, than for a convention
Many of us have heard about the late preacher, D.L Moody
He was always accompanied by a great singer, Sankey
Sankey would draw the crowd; moody will preach
All His creation of God glorifies God; the birds sing, as well as the trees!
We have a reason to sing, more than all of that; He redeemed us from the pit
1 I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry.
2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.
3 He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear the LORD and put their trust in him. (psalm 40: 1-3, NIV)
Start praising God; sing unto the Lord more often; you will see the change
Listen to the songs that give glory to God

Prayer: Lord, I am thankful to you for your saving grace. Help me Oh God to give praise and worship to you that you deserve. Make me an instrument of your praise among others. Help me speak more about you than anything else. Amen
