Today: More than just thanks

 Passage:  Psalm 103:1-2 NIV

1 Praise the LORD, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
2 Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits

America just celebrated “Thanksgiving” last Thursday

I thank God for such a celebration and holiday, still in place, in the U.S

In Psalm 103, the psalmist encourages us to thank the Lord, deep down from within- not just as a lip service

Beyond that, he is encouraging us to keep having an attitude of gratitude, and keep remembering what the Lord has done for us

When we thank a person for something they did for us, it is possible to forget that in the next moment

But there are some, who are remembered for ever, because of what they did

We see Mary Magdalene, anointing Jesus with a very precious jar of perfume

Usually, we give away things that we no longer need

But God spared heaven’s most precious, Jesus Christ, for us

The other day, I was speaking to a missionary from N. India

He was telling me about the commitment of young people from S. Korea

He said, “They are willing to send as many youth as missionaries, anywhere”

It is one thing to give for the Lord; but it is a much costly thing, to give ourselves to the Lord and His mission

Jesus is Heaven’s most precious, and He was given as a gift to us

God had us in His mind, even before He created the earth (Eph 1:4, Ps 90: 1-2)

He created the earth for us; we need to acknowledge that

We need to love all that the Lord has created-including the environment

God has appointed angels to serve the child of God- in our travel and in our everyday life; but don’t put angels before God. God is first

I have seen the miraculous hand and work of God many times in my life

We need to really pray so that God can deliver us from that which satan  plans for us

Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8)

Jesus is the light that overcomes darkness; the life that destroys death

Once two crowds met each other- Jesus was the main character in one and a dead man, the only son of a widow-the main character in the other(Luke 7:11)

Jesus did not just pass by; “Life” stopped the funeral procession of the dead

“Life” encountered with the “dead”; the dead man came back to life

Everyday, we see these two crowds: the one that is with Jesus, and the other – of the dead

Once Jesus said: “Let the dead bury their dead”

God has put us in the world not to just ignore the “dead” around us, but to deal with them and to bring them to life; I am talking about the spiritually dead

By doing so, we will be really thanking God

He forgave our sins and quickened our dead spirit, to life

God bless your week

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for all that you have done for me. Help me to be thankful to you, not only through my words, but also through my actions and my very life. Form in me, your character and ministry. Amen
