Today: When we say what God didn’t ask us to say

Passage: Jer 14:14-15 NIV

14 Then the LORD said to me, “The prophets are prophesying lies in my name. I have not sent them or appointed them or spoken to them. They are prophesying to you false visions, divinations, idolatries [a] and the delusions of their own minds. 15 Therefore, this is what the LORD says about the prophets who are prophesying in my name: I did not send them, yet they are saying, ‘No sword or famine will touch this land.’ Those same prophets will perish by sword and famine.

God does not lie; His words are true; but people lie in the name of the Lord!

Every time Jesus spoke, He was very careful to speak only that which the father had given him to speak (John 12:49)

Apostle Paul preached what he received from the Lord

When we stand with the word of God, we are responsible to declare the truth and only the truth of God’s word

Sometimes, people assume things and speak it, as if it is true

That can confuse people; we are accountable for our words

When someone say, “Thus sayeth the Lord”, it must be from the Lord

It is the speaker’s responsibility to make sure that it was from the Lord

During the time of Jeremiah, Ezekiel, as well as today, there are people who say, “Thus sayeth the Lord” and then speak whatever they want

But one day, we all will have to settle our accounts with God

Jesus had no shortage of messages or words, because He was in constant communication with the father

When a person says something in the name of the Lord, most people will accept it as so, and will be scared to question it, even when they feel it is not from God

But there will be some, who can discern the truth; they will address it

In the work places, senior officers usually designate a junior staff to take care of their responsibilities, when they are away; their secretary or so

It is done under the faith that the junior person will not misuse the authority

If that person/secretary makes up a statement of his/her own and claim that it is from the boss, they will pay for that big time!

However, people do that very often, with God and the word/things of God

Sometimes, our own conscience can deceive us; that is what happened to some of the O.T prophets. They saw false visions and thought that it was from the Lord:

3 This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Woe to the foolish [a] prophets who follow their own spirit and have seen nothing! 4 Your prophets, O Israel, are like jackals among ruins. 5 You have not gone up to the breaks in the wall to repair it for the house of Israel so that it will stand firm in the battle on the day of the LORD. 6 Their visions are false and their divinations a lie. They say, “The LORD declares,” when the LORD has not sent them; yet they expect their words to be fulfilled. 7 Have you not seen false visions and uttered lying divinations when you say, “The LORD declares,” though I have not spoken? (Ezekiel 13: 3-7, NIV)

It is important that we take responsibility when we say, “The Lord told me so”

Moses ministered for forty years; Joshua never bothered him

But when Joshua’s turn came, God called Moses home

Joshua’s faithfulness was under heaven’s observation

He never did anything saying: “The Lord told me to take over Moses” or so

As we remain faithful and make sure that we are doing only what the Lord commands us to do, He will be with us throughout the course.

People will submit to us, and obey what we say, just as they did with Joshua!

God bless your day

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to understand it when you speak to me. Help me to discern between that which comes form you and that which is not. Amen

Demise of a Police Officer in New Jersey: Mr. John Abraham, s/o former New Jersey Governor John Abraham, is basically from Kerala, India.

Car crash: John Abraham, 37, was working an overtime shift he crashed his car close to police HQ in Teaneck, New Jersey

A hero police officer was killed when his car slammed into a telephone pole – just hours after he saved the life of a choking man.

John Abraham, 37, was working overtime in Teaneck, New Jersey, when he was involed in a one-car accident right outside police headquarters.

The officer, who was married and had an autistic five-year-old son, was earlier called to a local steakhouse where an 87-year-old man had collapsed.

Eye-witnesses told how he rushed into the restaurant and ‘automatically gave him CPR and the Heimlich maneuver, and he lifted him out of the chair’.

‘He did it for a very long time,’ restaurant manager Melissa Klein told the New York Post.

The rescued man was taken by ambulance with his wife to nearby Holy Name Hospital, police said.

‘If not for [Abraham] and EMTs, he would not be breathing at all,’ the victim’s unnamed son said.

Almost seven hours later, Abraham’s cruiser hit a telephone pole. After being pulled from the car, Abraham was also taken to Holy Name.

The officer was pronounced dead there at 2:40 a.m. yesterday.

‘I was obviously shocked,’ said the son of the elderly man Abraham had helped save.

‘Our hearts go out to the policeman’s family,’ said the son, who requested anonymity.

‘We really appreciate this policeman helping my father.’
