Today: Who/what is controlling you?

 Passage:  2 Cor 4:7 NIV

7But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.

It is the power of God that drives a child of God

The fuel for that power is the word of God

When we are anointed by the Holy Spirit of God, the word that is anointed by that Spirit will change the lives of people

In the book of Ezekiel Chapter 1, we read about the creatures with four faces/ personalities in one- the man, the ox, the eagle and the lion

They have two wheels that will take them anywhere

And those wheels, as per one interpretation, are faith and grace

The four faces represent the four Gospels, as per interpretation of many scholars. Some differ on which represents which. The most agreed upon explanation is:

In Mathew, Jesus is the King, the Lion of Judah

In Mark, he is the servant, like an ox. In Luke, we see the humanity of Jesus

In John, we see the divinity of Jesus, like how an eagle represents things in the higher realm

Together, the four gospels give us a good picture of the life and ministry of Jesus

The life of Jesus was the life from above. So He could survive the various attacks of the devil and the world, upon His life and ministry

We, who live as witnesses of God upon this earth, need the same power of the Holy Spirit to live a victorious Christian life

As Christians sin, it affects not only themselves, but also people around them

Adam & Eve’s sin caused Jesus to die on the cross

Moses committed sin, and so did David. Their sin affected others much

Even today, the biggest threat to the Church comes from within, not without

A Florida man named Terry Jones who calls himself a Pastor and a Christian, is planning to burn what people of a certain religion consider sacred, on Sept 11, 2010

In a recent interview, Mr. Jones told the interviewer that God has cursed anyone adding to or taking away anything from the Bible (Ref Rev. 22: 18-19)

But Koran and the Bible are two different books. They are not connected to each other, even though you will see some common names in both

So, Terry Jones has to understand that it is not Koran that is mentioned in Rev 22: 18-19. But there are some Bible translations where they have done that. The “New World Translation” of Jehovah witnesses is one example

In NWT, in John 1:1, it is written, “the word was a god”, whereas the actual writing is, “the word was God”

We all have to pray that Terry Jones will not do what he is claiming to do, on Sept 11, 2010. He is misguided. So, we should pray

Anything that is done as a revenge or to provoke somebody, is not glorifying God

God says, “Revenge is mine”. If somebody is burning Bibles and throwing them in garbage, God will deal with them

When people go to certain countries from countries like India, customs people do such things, at the entry to that country. They snatch the Bibles and destroy them

But a Christian should respond in Christ’s way, not like others

We need to be controlled by the power of God, more than by our own emotions

Our emotions should be subject to God’s Spirit and power

May God bless your day; don’t forget to pray

Blessings
