Today: Ask and you WILL get

 Passage:  Matthew 7: 7, 8 NIV

7“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

It is quite amazing to look into some of the very familiar scriptures

As I was getting ready to write this message, I just found something I was looking for all these days, right in front of my eyes

It was one of the speakers of a music system

I have had very exciting findings whenever I was looking for things or clearing paper piles. I am sure, you had that experience too

When God says something, He is saying that for a reason. God is not joking when He says, “ask and you will get, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened!”

There are people around us who say, “there is no need to pray; God knows our needs and He will do it even without praying”

But, if God told us to pray, He means it and we better do it

It is not about our survival or blessings; it is about obeying God

God Himself does these things: asking, seeking and knocking

When man sinned for the first time, God came to the very place of their living, looking for them

The son of man came to seek and save that which is lost. He is like the shepherd who would leave the 99 and go looking for the one which is lost

In Rev. 3:20, we read about the master knocking at the door and asking us to open the door for Him

When we need things here on earth, we are not ashamed of asking or seeking

How did we get our job? We were seeking; we applied; we went for interview

But when it comes to the things of God, we are like: “let God do it if He wants”

That is a very wrong attitude

God is looking for someone with a sense of need, for the things of God

He is looking for someone who will understand the heart-beat of God and act

Only those with a sense of need, a hunger, a thirst, will ask, seek or knock

Such are the people who receive

Many a time, we fail to ask. God loves those who ask

Other times, we ask for our own selfish motives; God does not appreciate that

God wants us to know what His will is, and ask accordingly

Asking is not begging. Our children ask us, not beg. We do it for them

God will be more than willing to provide us with what we ask

Our ego and pride will tell us, “don’t ask, don’t seek, don’t knock!”

We are the ultimate loosers, not God. It is better to ask God and knock at His door than to beg man or knock at their door

When we go ahead in faith, as we reach the point of need, we can see God waiting there with the answer. We will be so excited

If we remain where we are, we will not see it

We have to make our move. God will make His moves

Abraham saw the lamb as he made the decision to obey God and went on top of mount Moriah, to sacrifice. God did not expect Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, but Abraham’s obedience and submission was tested. Abraham passed the test with honors!

God brings things to those people who are willing to obey and make the steps

For those who remain where they are expecting God to show up, they may remain there for ever

We need to become humble, as much as God humbled Himself

Ask, seek and knock

God bless

Prayer: Father, help me to be humble enough to ask, seek and knock. I need hunger and humility. Thank you for your promise that everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen
