Today: The city of God

 Passage:  Joshua 6: 2-5 NIV

2 Then the LORD said to Joshua, “See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men. 3 March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days. 4 Have seven priests carry trumpets of rams’ horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets. 5 When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have all the people give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse and the people will go up, every man straight in.”

(emphasis added).

God is the creator of heaven and earth

When God tells a person that He has given something to him/her, God means it

It is unlike the many promises that man makes and then forgets

God is trusting Joshua to do what is to be done, and promises Joshua in advance that the city of Jericho is given to them

God is willing to put His trust in us

When Jesus told His disciples to go into all the world and preach the gospel, He trusted them and endowed them with the power

God’s promises are true, but today, we would believe a man rather than God!

We believe the scary things that the devil whispers in our ears than what God tells us clear and loud!

God makes things very clear. He is not afraid of anybody

God is telling the truth. He is light and there is no darkness in Him

As we read the final chapters of the book of revelation, we read about the City of God, the new Jerusalem

A city that is 1400 miles long, 1400 miles wide and 1400 miles tall!

There is no sun light required there because God is its light

There is no night there. There is only day

That city has twelve gates but the gates never close

The city of God, the kingdom of God is active on the earth today

The Church of Jesus Christ is lit by the son of God, not by the sun of this world

Its gates should always be open to welcome anybody to come in

The darkness of the world should not affect it

People who walk in should receive deliverance and healing to the spirit, soul and body

Those who walk into the City of God should experience God

The Christian home and the individual should be a city of God in essence

When Moses came down from God’s presence, his face was so radiant

Others should be able to see the light of God in us

People should feel comfortable coming to us and getting deliverance

Many a time, our doors are closed. We are busy with this and that

God expects us to turn (part of) our nights into times of prayer (Ps 134)

We are the temple of God, and are expected to bring praise and glory to God

The real City of God, in its fullness, is getting ready to come down

Once Joshua and the people obeyed God and did exactly what God told them, the City of Jericho became a City of God

All those who believed and acted upon God’s word got straight into that City

Everything in that city was devoted to God

Is there anything our personal life and family that is not devoted to God?

Let everything in our church, everybody be devoted to God

I have heard that in the olden days, our forefathers would not allow someone to sweep the church floor, if they were not anointed!

These days, the story is different. Anointment could be a disqualification in many places

But God is looking for some. Be part of His city on earth

Blessings and peace

Prayer: Lord, help me to be a member in your city, your household. Help me to be more open than before so that people can come to me and go back different. Remove any darkness in me, my family and Church. Amen
