Today: Saved to serve!

Passage: Ps 57:1 NIV

1 Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me,
for in you my soul takes refuge.
I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings
until the disaster has passed.

What kind of a relationship do we have, with God?

David wrote this psalm as he was running to hide himself in a cave because of King Saul who was chasing him

Think about it; David was anointed by God to be Israel’s next King and now he is chased like a dog, by the then King Saul

Can’t God just kick Saul out and put David on the throne?

Or, can’t God go and speak to Saul, “don’t touch David?”

For some reason, God didn’t do all of that

Is God powerless? Why does God allow suffering for His children, on earth?

Why is it that many missionaries become Martyrs?

Jesus explained the reason. His kingdom is not like any kingdom of this world

In the worldly Kingdom, people fight each other for power

But POWER is used in God’s kingdom, in a totally different way

POWER is used for the salvation and deliverance of people from the hand of the devil

If a certain nation takes people of another nation as prisoners or captives in this world, it is not easy to get them back; they start negotiating

But the kingdom of God snatches millions of people from the kingdom of satan and makes them part of God’s kingdom

The kingdom of God is much more powerful than any kingdom of this world

While the world tries to make saints into sinners, God turns sinners into saints

The soldiers of God’s kingdom are servants of God, who are “saved to serve”

When they face problems, they run to the shadow of the almighty and finds refuge there (Ps 91:1)

Sometimes they get wounded and have losses but the King is always watching

His presence shall always be with His own

He will not hand them over to the enemy, satan

David mentions about “seasons” in his life, in psalm 57:1

There are seasons of good and bad times in the life of everybody

After Jesus fasted, devil came to Jesus and tested him

It was only for a season; the he left Jesus

We will all go through these various seasons in life

But God is not a God who is seasonal. He will be with us at all times and in all seasons

A friend in need is a friend indeed-that is Jesus

He will make sure that His own will finally come forth with flying colors

2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze. (Isaiah 43: 2, NIV)

God does not promise that His own will not pass through water and fire

But He promises to be with us, as we pass through them

He will bring us out safely

He will fight for us; the victory is ours, through Christ

So, cheer up! He gives beauty for ashes and a garment of praise, for those who are sad and depressed. He is the bridegroom who wants His bride to be happy, cheerful and satisfied in a world where people are never satisfied!

God bless
