Today: Saved for a reason, not a season

Passage: Ps 57: 2-3 NIV

2 I cry out to God Most High, to God, who fulfills {his purpose} for me.

3 He sends from heaven and saves me, rebuking those who hotly pursue me;
(Selah) God sends his love and his faithfulness. (Emphasis added)

Psalmist, who is in a season of trouble, chose to cry unto God, not anybody else

He knew, crying to anybody else was not worth it

There are seasons of shock or disaster in life

But God can turn those shocks into surprises, if we handle them right

That is when a child of God can say, “All things ultimately work for good”

Shocks are only for a season, but salvation is for a reason and for all the time

David goes on to say, “God, who fulfills His purpose for me”

Not my purpose, but His!

God is not sitting up there to fulfill every dream of you and me

He has a certain purpose/plan for us, which is the best

I have seen many people who made lot of money and lived a luxury life

They never knew any shortage of money or things in life

But one day, as we stand in His presence, the question is going to be:

How much of God’s purpose did you fulfill in your life?

Architects sometimes make master plans for big projects

There may be swimming pool, a health club, restaurant, rooms, etc in the project

Each of those will have their separate designs

If a contractor starts the swimming pool work and then goes outside and starts another work, and then comes back after some time, that project will never be completed as intended

In the same way, we may be doing lot of things, even for God; but are we completing what is in God’s master plan for each one of us?

If we want to see His beautiful project for us completed, we better leave all that we are doing “outside” of His will and come back and start doing what is in His plan for us

David was keen to do that. That is why David was called “a man after my own heart”, by God

David speaks about the love and faithfulness of God

Two rare commodities in the world today-love and faithfulness

God made it clear-you cannot be committed to more than one person or thing at a time

God said; “you cannot serve both God and mammon”

God is a God of love, faithfulness and commitment

He proved His love through Jesus Christ

How doe we prove our love for God?

We live at a time when marriage and family are falling apart

People take the advice of friends, rather than God or His word

These friends want their friends to be in the same misery as they are

God wants/warns us to think about the consequences of our actions

Satan will say, “Don’t even think about consequences. Enjoy life when you can!”

What will you do, when you cannot?

If you give love and faithfulness out, you will get it back

Commitment to God, family and work is the greatest blessing in life

God loves us. So He is concerned about consequences of what we do

Allow God to fulfill His plan in our life. Make choices carefully and prayerfully

Stay blessed

Prayer: Lord, fulfill your plan in my life; let me not be an obstacle for that.

Fill me with love and faithfulness, which is what you are, Oh God. Amen
