Today: Awake and pray!
Passage: Ps 57: 8-9 NIV
8 Awake, my soul! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn.
9 I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples.(emphasis added)
Even as David was in great distress, chased like a dog, his routine or discipline of prayer and worship did not change
The first thing he would do in the morning, was to Praise and Thank his God
Once you lift God in your personal worship, you will lift Him in public
Sometimes we get so ice-cold in our life that we don’t feel the need for praying or praising
Those are the times when God will set His alarm on, upon us
Something that happens to us, will wake us up
It is not very nice to hear the alarm when you are deep asleep
But you have to be somewhere on time; you have to get up
A day’s extra sleep can cost you so much
It can cost you even your job/livelihood
Satan’s trick is to put you in sleep-spiritual as well as physical, so that you will not pray or praise God
Satan is successful with most Christians, in this area
Yesterday, I was watching a video clipping of a message by David Wilkerson, Pastor of Times Square Church, New York
He was literally crying about the sleeping Christians of today-
Christians who are sleeping because they don’t know about the dangers ahead
Jesus Christ wanted to wake His own disciples to pray, when he was facing the trial of His earthly life
But they could not get up and pray. They did not know the seriousness of the moment and about what was going to follow
Jesus was (in a way) telling them; “If only you had known what was next…..”
We need an anguish of the Spirit, to pray the way God wants us to pray
David was a King; but he was not ashamed of His God
None of us are holding any titles equal to that of David
Yet we are so ashamed of lifting Jesus
Jesus did not do anything shameful, yet we are proud of lifting so many other people who did lot of shameful things!
If we never had a life of prayer and praise, it is time to start one
We live in a busy world and satan is so clever to make us feel even busier
While I was in college, we had a daily prayer in the evening
Some of the students who wanted to come, would be in some conversation with some other friends
These “friends” come intentionally, five minutes before seven and get these guys into talking, so that they won’t go for prayer
What tricks are the enemy successfully using with us, to prevent us from praying?
If we don’t pray and praise, we will have to pay!
We better find some time for God, before it is too late
Stay prayed!

Prayer: Lord, help me to understand the tricks of the devil and get out of them. I need to spend time with you, more than ever, these days. So help me God. Amen
