Today: When God is first!
Passage: Isaiah 45: 13 NIV
13 I will raise up Cyrus [b] in my righteousness: I will make all his ways straight.
He will rebuild my city and set my exiles free,
but not for a price or reward, says the LORD Almighty.”
Cyrus was a Persian King who was raised up by God for the help and deliverance of the Jews in Exile
God raised a person who was not Jewish, to have compassion for them and to deliver them
The ways of God are unique. He will use the “unfamiliar” for doing things for you and for me!
Many a time, we expect help from certain familiar faces
It can come through those people whom we thought, are our enemies!
And “friends” may act in the most unexpected way!
That is why, it is important to have discernment and to trust in God more than any human being or force
5 This is what the LORD says: “Cursed is the one who trusts in man,
who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the LORD. (Jer 17: 5, NIV)
We all know the verse in Ps 118:8 which says, “It is better to trust in God, than to trust in man”
Yet people, believers, often put their trust in some human beings
We need to trust people
But trusting someone for getting things done, may be in vain
After all, the people in whom we depend are only a breath, says the word of God!
God is ready, willing and able to help us
He can help us like no one else
While we expect that a certain person’s attitude towards us is favorable, it may not be so. That person may be thinking differently
People form their opinions in different ways
Some people just take opinions from others, about you
So, the next time you see a person so well known to you, you may see a “change” in their attitude towards you
Your “day” is gone!
But, if your trust is in God, none of such things will affect you
We hear lot of people ending their life, because someone whom they trusted so much, deceived them
But if God was First in their life, that could not have happened
The other day, we were attending the funeral of a smart, 15 year old girl
The mother of the girl was walking in procession, touching the coffin of her daughter
But that mother had great hope in God, surpassing the great pain of the separation of her daughter
Hope in God is one of the greatest assets we can have
These days, there is so much of evil going around us
No one knows what will happen in the next moment
Nations are under fear, so they scream against each other
A dog barks because of fear, not courage
But the one that has confidence keeps quiet, because of faith
Fear and faith are opposites
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. [a] (Prov 3:5-6, NIV)
God bless you
BG
Prayer: Lord, forgive me for putting my trust in mere human beings. I am sorry. I will put my trust in you and you alone, from this day onwards, so that I will never be discouraged. Amen
