Today: When bad things come in a “good” wrap!
Passage: Gen 50: 20-21 NIV
10 Lot looked up and saw that the whole plain of the Jordan was well watered, like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, toward Zoar. (This was before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.) 11 So Lot chose for himself the whole plain of the Jordan and set out toward the east. The two men parted company:
Lot started journey with Abraham
But he was a little bit materialistic; Abraham was not!
In today’s spiritual world, we can see these two types of people
We cannot easily identify between these different types
The motive is different; God alone understands the motive
We have many people who became materially blessed but very few who are spiritually blessed
The blessings of God are piling up in heaven because the children of God are not claiming it; they are running after the things of this world
Lot was more than excited to see the plain of Jordan, which was well watered
He fell in love with that land, at first sight
But he did not inquire of the Lord
So he quickly moved into that which looked good
It was a land full of sin!
However, at this point, Abraham and lot parted company
That was a new start for Abraham
That separation from Lot was the real start of Abraham’s spiritual journey
So far, it was preparation time
When a person gets baptized, they come into a similar separation from the world, and starts their spiritual life of ministry (Acts 2:38)
Thereafter, your choices are by faith, not by sight
7We live by faith, not by sight.
16So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. 17Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! (2 Cor 5:7, 16-17, NIV)
Many of God’s children have fallen into traps because they went after that which “looked good”, instead of asking what God’s will was
God’s things may not look good in the beginning
God keeps the best for later. In the wedding in Cana, that is what God did
World, on the other hand, shows you things that “look good” and lure you into it
By the time you come to know the trap, it may be too late
God does not sugar-coat anything. But the sweetness is there, all the way inside
The things that the world offers, are sugar-coated. They are bitter, on the inside
Time spend with God is the best-either in prayer or meditation of God’s word
You feel good after you do it
But if you go to a good restaurant and eat all the good food there, you may feel very tired and bad for spending too much!
Have you ever craved for a buffet prepared by God?
You have it right near you-a buffet with 66 different items
Pick what you like and eat the best stuff on earth!
Some of them are little heavy; some are light
Some are very sweet
You can have one dish from the O.T, One from N.T and have a psalm as a dessert
Have a blessed week-end!

Prayer: Lord, forgive me for making choices by sight. I want to make spiritual choices and walk by faith. So help me God; Amen
