Today: The price of freedom

Passage: Ezekiel 21: 6-7 NIV

6 “Therefore groan, son of man! Groan before them with broken heart and bitter grief. 7 And when they ask you, ‘Why are you groaning?’ you shall say, ‘Because of the news that is coming. Every heart will melt and every hand go limp; every spirit will become faint and every knee become as weak as water.’ It is coming! It will surely take place, declares the Sovereign LORD.”

God called Ezekiel to warn Israel about the danger of complacency

The church today, is in a neutral mood, saying neither “yes” nor “no” to anything

This way, the church can “look good” in front of the world

But God is warning the land and the church about a great danger of doing so

God allowed Babylon to come and take Israelites as captives, to their country

Many of God’s people loved Babylon

Today, Babylon has found a very comfortable place in the church at large

Instead of making the Bible as the standard, what the majority feels has become the standard in the Church

One day, Jesus went to the temple in Jerusalem and drove all the thieves out

When the temple was transforming into a house of commerce, the authorities just kept quiet

Then God himself had to do the clean-up

United States is celebrating another independence day of July 4th

Compared to many other nations of the world, America has been blessed so much in a period of four centuries. No other nation in the world has made such a progress in so little time

But America has to acknowledge that this has been the work of God

Freedom is costly. There is a big price tag attached to it. Many people sacrificed their lives for the freedom we enjoy, whether in India or America

But freedom can be used for good or bad

Many people who enjoyed freedom from sin through the atoning work of Christ, are misusing that freedom to commit sin

Here in America, lots of other things are going on now

In the past few days, New Yorkers are hearing so much about proposals for mosque(s) in downtown Manhattan

Many New Yorkers said, “Islam is a religion of peace”

“Is there something called a religion of peace?”

I don’t think there is

Religion failed to bring peace. It has brought many wars

But there is something that brought deliverance, healing and peace to people

17The scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written:
18“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind,
to release the oppressed, 19to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”[e] (Luke 4: 17-19, NIV)

Jesus came to proclaim true freedom for the captives, the prisoners of sin

There is no slavery worse than the slavery to sin

I have seen people admitting that slavery and crying

Sin has slaves. Christ came to give son-ship to you and me

Christ hates slavery

Be thankful for freedom

God bless US

Prayer: Lord, help me to understand that there was a big price paid on Calvary to get me freedom from sin and satan. Help me to stay free in you. Amen
