Today: Rock of love, rock for life!
Passage: Deuteronomy 32: 28-31 NIV
28 They are a nation without sense, there is no discernment in them.
29 If only they were wise and would understand this and discern what their end will be!
30 How could one man chase a thousand, or two put ten thousand to flight,
unless their Rock had sold them, unless the LORD had given them up?
31 For their rock is not like our Rock, as even our enemies concede.
Jesus is a rock like no other rock!
As a brother was sharing in Church about the Rock that is Jesus,
The scripture above came to my mind
This scripture was a favorite portion of one of my friends in college
He used to share it often
Coming from a non-Christian background, his father had died when he was a child
He had to face many struggles; one of his brothers was supporting him
So he always used to share about Jesus, his rock of trust
We have a rock, who will not sell us out!
When Moses struck the rock in the wilderness, water gushed out
Everybody drank to their satisfaction
If that rock was not there, they would have died
On Calvary, as Jesus was smitten, blood and water gushed out of Him
He himself was the living water to quench the thirst of our soul (John 4)
He was the living bread that came from heaven, to give us eternal life (John 6)
And he became salvation and healing for us, by his shed blood and his stripes on the cross
He became completely “sold out” for us
He became the lamb that was slain
We live in a world where the Church does not want to get their hands dirty by going too close to the less privileged
In most cases, they want to take-in only the “decent” ones
That is what religion does
“We don’t want the bad guys; give them to that other church out there; give us the good ones”
But that is not what Jesus did
He went right into where the sinners were
The woman by the well and Mary Magdalene could come to him straight
They found acceptance and true love in him, whereas what they found in other men was only lust
Today, the world markets/sells lust under the guise of love
Many people fall into big traps
This Jesus, who was “sold out” for us, who gave himself COMPLETELY for us, will never deceive us
He is not the one who will show something and take everything from us
True love can be found in Him
When “lust” asks, “what can I get?”, love asks, “what can I give?”
That is Jesus. He is not one of the many options you can find at the religion super-market
He is like the only option, at the emergency room of life
The doctor tells you: “you just have the only one option/ treatment, or death”
We will definitely say, “go ahead with that treatment, doctor”
Trust Jesus with your life. He is reliable. He won’t cheat
God bless

Prayer: “Jesus-Rock of ages, cleft for me, let me hide myself in thee”
