Today: Give thanks!

Passage: Psalm 103: 1-5 NIV

1 Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.

2 Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits-

3 who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,

4 who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion,

5 who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Just read Psalm 103 a couple of times

Your life will no longer be the same

The word of God is like a dictionary to many, to be used only once in a while

But if the word becomes like food and praise and worship like a habit,

We will see the difference in our personal, family and church life

I have seen people who always complain and grumble, never happy or thankful

They find fault with everything and everybody-their life is horrible and they want the lives of others also to become like that

They spent more time watching others, than doing their own stuff

They speak so much, using their “paid time” at work, for that

Such people carry baggages or bundles of stuff with them, which makes them a “nuisance” to others and a liability to their company/others

We can, on the other side, become an asset, a blessing to others

Have an attitude of gratitude; an attitude of praise and thanksgiving

When we sit in front of food, do we thank God?

Do you know how many people in the world never get one meal like that, which we eat three or more times every day?

When we thank God for that food, we are also remembering those that are less privileged than us

So we don’t waste food either

That food, which we eat with thanks, is healthy and gives us long life. Just try it. We won’t get all that sickness that goes around!

God has been so good and yet we grumble all the time?

That is why the Israelites, who were redeemed from Egypt, who were baptized in water and the cloud (spirit) who ate and drank the spiritual food and water of communion, perished in the desert

1For I do not want you to be ignorant of the fact, brothers, that our forefathers were all under the cloud and that they all passed through the sea. 2They were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea. 3They all ate the same spiritual food 4and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ. 5Nevertheless, God was not pleased with most of them; their bodies were scattered over the desert.   (1 Cor 10: 1-5,  NIV)

We can be “good Pentecostals” and still miss heaven!

We can have all those sacraments and sacrifice and yet be thankless!

But we can be thankful and loving, bring healing to others, and go to heaven!

As we read in Psalm 103, remember what the Lord has done for us!

Thank God for life; thank God for health

Come together as a family and thank God, every night at least

He will be pleased to give us long life and good health

We cannot complain; only be thankful to Him

Think of those people in life, who helped us become who/what we are today

Our parents, siblings, teachers and ………..

Are we thankful to them/for them?

Be blessed and be a blessing, out there

Peace,

BG

Prayer: Lord, I am sorry for not being thankful and for disregarding what you as well as others have done for me. Help me to be different from today, to become thankful and to be a blessing in my work, home and neighborhood. Amen.
