Today: Do not take sin for granted
Passage: Rom 8:1-2 NIV
1Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,[a] 2because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.
These days, we are hearing about so many crimes and also about the punishments people are receiving
The legal system of the world punishes the people breaking the law
But the crime or mistake they did cannot be reversed by that
Same is what the law (of Moses) did
The person who committed the crime pays the penalty or brings a sacrifice to the temple
But the original sin committed by that person is still counted upon him/her
It is like how people look upon a person who came out of jail
Even though he/she suffered prison time, people look at that person as an ex-criminal. He/she will be watched
Here is where we see the uniqueness of the forgiveness of sins through Jesus
When a person confesses his/her sins in the name of Jesus, two things happen
1. God forgives and forgets that sin, if the repentance was genuine
Genuine repentance involves a decision not to repeat that sin any more
2. That person, in the record book of heaven, is as clean as a person who never ever committed that sin
It is true that sin leaves a mark in the sinner. There is a difference between committing a sin and receiving forgiveness, and in not committing that sin at all, as far the person/individual is concerned
But in God’s boo, once a person is granted forgiveness, there is absolutely no record of that sin at all
But the sad and dangerous part is this:
Genuine repentance is very rare!
And there is so much “misuse” of the grace of God
A good number of Christians live under the assumption that it is O.K to continue in sin and then just ask for forgiveness!
But the fact is: God looks at “living in sin” by a believer, much more serious than the sin of a non-believer
God’s forgiveness is so great; so is his punishment!
Don’t take God too light
He is rich in forgiveness but He is also a God of justice
God hates sin
In the world, many criminals escape and many innocents may get punished
Many get much worse punishments than what they deserve; many get much lesser punishments than what they deserve
But with God, there is no foul play!
God will judge all people with justice and with impartiality
No one can escape the judgment of GOD
Thank God for His justice and His mercy
1What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? (Rom 6: 1-2, NIV)
May God help you to take victory over sin!
Be a blessing!

Prayer: Lord, I have taken sin so light, and have continued to do so, after receiving your love and forgiveness. Now I know that I was misusing and misappropriating your grace and forgiveness. Help me to live a life that is pleasing to you, as in Romans 12: 1-2. Amen
