Today: Approved by God
Passage: 1 Thess 2: 4-6 NIV
4On the contrary, we speak as men approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel. We are not trying to please men but God, who tests our hearts. 5You know we never used flattery, nor did we put on a mask to cover up greed—God is our witness. 6We were not looking for praise from men, not from you or anyone else.
The messengers of the gospel need to be approved by God
In the physical world, we wear our I.D or badge at work
That I.D shows that we are approved by our agency, to represent them
There are many ministers in churches today, who are approved by certain denomination, but not necessarily by God
Paul was confident that he was approved by God
In his letter to Timothy, Paul mentions the need for God’s approval
5Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. (2 Tim 2: 5 NIV)
A person who seeks approval from God will not seek approval from man
A person approved by God is a good student of God’s word. That person will uphold the truth and doctrine of the word, in life and words.
The word of God is the word of Truth
The very term “truth” scares many people
In many Churches, the gospel of liberalism has replaced the true gospel which is Christ centered
A gospel which is not centered on Christ makes no sense to God
Jesus is full of grace and truth (John 1:14)
When grace and truth come together, the glory of God will be revealed
The truth of God must be served in the platter of grace
The truth must be spoken, and must be spoken in love
Correctly handling the word of truth is very important
When someone explains a certain scripture in his/her won way, it can become an allegory, if it does not bring out the actual meaning intended by
God, about that scripture
When we rightly divide the scripture, we need not add water or any other ingredient to it, to adulterate it. We need not stretch it either
When we mix other ingredients to the gospel and make our own pie and serve it, people will not get the original taste and flavor of the gospel
The purpose of the scripture is to reveal the truth to people
The Bible is the Christian’s road map
Many people keep this map in their brief case and ask people on the way, (prophets ands others), which way to go
Can they be truer than the map?
God has given us all the tools needed to do His work
We need to use them right
Let us try to become a work man approved by God, with no reason to be ashamed
Truth will prevail!
