Today: An upright heart

Passage: Mt 14:28-30 NIV

3 The scepter of the wicked will not remain over the land allotted to the righteous,
for then the righteous might use their hands to do evil.

4 Do good, O LORD, to those who are good, to those who are upright in heart.

Job 4: 6-7 (NIV)    6  Should not your piety be your confidence and your blameless ways your hope?

7 “Consider now: Who, being innocent, has ever perished? Where were the upright ever destroyed?

The psalmist and the friend of job are mentioning about innocence and uprightness of heart

We had two people speak in church yesterday, touching the verses above

I remember having read a book by Tim Lahey, titled “the spirit filled temperament”, many years back

He states that all the people in the world fall under four major character/behavior traits

When we deal with people, we can see the “hidden” personality in them

Sometimes, we see some people are so scared; they speak with fear-

People who are over-cautious about everything

On the other hand, we deal with people who don’t care about anything at all

They will be speaking blunders

Jesus told his disciples to be innocent as a dove and wise, like a snake

By being shrewd and cunning, we never reach anywhere

God will bless those who are of an upright heart-those who are transparent

We have to make our lives easier, instead of walking around with the bundle of ego. “Let go and let God take control”

I know people who will “mind” you only if you first mind them

It doesn’t matter it is the 100th time you are seeing them; the rule is the same, all the time

And then, there are people who watch each move of you, as to who you are talking to and how, like an “undercover”

But it is better to live a life which is stress-free. With unnecessary stress, you can also get sick, faster.

We already have enough things in life, to be concerned about

If we get rid of lot of unnecessary stuff from our heart, God can fill those places with good stuff. We can be healthy and more productive

If we became a new creation in Christ, any bad trait we inherited genetically, through blood must be replaced by the character of Jesus, having purged with His blood

Fear and competition/comparison should be out of our life

Pray to God about anything that “concerns” us. Then, live a stress-free life

Tomorrow is in God’s hands. He is faithful

If we put our trust in God, he will not make us ashamed

Other people out there have lot of problems, lot of issues

Just speak to somebody and they might tell you what they are going through. Many people have just nobody willing to  listen to them

Pray for them; call them once in a while; pray with them

We all like to keep speaking and not listening!

What would have been our situation, if God was like that-always talking and never listening?

Sometimes, we need to learn some good character traits from God; a willingness to listen. Listen to our children as well as spouse. It helps!

May God help us to have an upright and sincere heart. That  will not only make our lives smooth, but also the lives of others. We better  get rid of all “hidden agendas”

God bless

Prayer: Lord, change me and make me the kind of person you want me to be. Speak to me, through your word. Make me a listener than a talker, and make me a blessing to someone today.
